UPDATED Statement on COVID-19

UPDATE – March 23: Today, the Governor issued a “stay at home” Order through April 13 to reduce the spread of COVID-19, so we will not be holding services at the church. Please visit our Facebook page for encouraging thoughts from our pastor. If you desire to send in your gifts & offerings, you can do so by mailing them to Billings Bible Church, 4111 Wieman Rd., Beaverton, MI 48612.

March 17: In light of Governor Whitmer’s recent Executive Order prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people, BBC will be canceling its services and mid-week Bible studies between March 17 and April 5. You can listen to previous messages and lessons from Pastor Tyler and Jim Floyd on our Sermon Audio page.  We may have video or Live streamed challenges on our Facebook page in the future. Please check back or follow our Facebook page for updates.

March 14:

We have been tracking the news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) both locally and globally. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) provides the most current information and updates. BBC is aware that Governor Whitmer designated Michigan under a state of emergency and has restricted gatherings of more than 250. BBC is also aware that there have been recent cases of individuals testing positive for COVID-19 in mid-Michigan. While we know this virus is primarily spread through close contact, we want to take precautionary measures to create a safe and healthy environment for us all to gather and worship.

At this time, we will continue having Sunday services and mid-week Bible studies.

While we are planning to continue the 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday services, we do strongly encourage anyone who is at risk (anyone 60 and older, anyone who is immuno-compromised, and anyone who has contact with any persons at risk) to err on the side of caution by staying home. You can listen to messages online by clicking on the Sermon Audio link above. It is our desire for each person to have the freedom in Christ to make their own decision whether or not to attend the services for the next three weeks. We encourage you to do what is in your best interest for your health and the health of those in your family. There will be no condemnation for anyone who remains home. As we said before, please err on the side of caution.

We will not pass the offering plates during the service but they will be placed in the back of the church for you to drop your offering. Of course gifts may also be sent to the church address: Billings Bible Church, 4111 Wieman Rd., Beaverton, MI 48612.

For those who may want to join us on Sundays, we recommend you greet each other with smiles and waves instead of handshakes and hugs. We will not be having our regular hand-shaking time.

We encourage you to take some time to understand proper preventative measures to avoid spreading the virus by reading through the CDC recommendations here.  Here are some of the basic measures listed on the CDC website:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze in your elbow or with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if your hands are visibly dirty.
  • Currently, the CDC is not recommending that people wear masks to prevent acquiring the disease.

Let’s be prayerful and practice healthy habits during this time. If the situation escalates, additional steps will be taken to continue to ensure the health and safety of people who attend BBC. Any other updates will be sent to our church family via BBC’s Facebook page or the prayer chain.

We are reminded in Deuteronomy 31:8 “And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.” God is in control and this current health crisis has not taken Him by surprise. Our trust is in Him.

Church Bowl

UPDATE: We are postponing the church bowl at this time.

Join us for our annual church bowl at the Beaverton Bowl on Sunday, March 22. We will eat at the church following the morning service and will plan to arrive at the bowling alley at 1 pm. Chicken noodle soup will be available at the church, or you can bring your own lunch.
